altitude (MASL): 1.600-1.800This year our autumn espresso comes from Ngila Estate, Tanzania. This farm is located on 1.600m a.s.l. in Arusza region, district Karatu, near crater Ngorongoro. This farm is located only few miles away from the National Park Serengeti - one of seven wonders of Africa. Sometimes, wild fauna visits the farm, lions, hippos, giraffes or elephants can be seen between coffee trees.
Ngila farm was established in 1920 and in 1992 was bought by Meyer family. Their work on farm started with investing in new technologies, developing coffee processes available on the site, and innovative watering techniques that will be efficient and sustainable. Currently on approx 100ha they grow about 150k coffee trees making about 120 tons of high quality specialty coffee a year.
