July Coffee of the Month comes from the group of local producers in El Morito, Guatemala. This cooperative was established 20 years ago by one of the coffee producer José Roberto Monterroso and currently brings together 450 members whose sole focus is to produce the best quality coffee. Year on year they achieve better results and their coffees are winning competitions such as Cup Of Excellence.
The farm run by José Roberto is 670 ha big and in majority is covered by natural forest and it’s a protected reserve area.
Coffee is hand-picked only and transported to the mill where it goes through washed process. Then the coffee is naturally dried on concrete beds.
Monterroso family is also very socially responsible, looks well after its employees and local community. They actively take part in natural forest protection and work closely with nearby cites in order to improve the health system and the education.
